Did you go there only once and from that judge this unique and fine restaurant?! You sound very narrowminded and negative. Try to open your mind instead of expecting everything to be as you are used to from your local burgermeal restaurant around the corner. Ever tried other restaurants with other than american standards as their image and background? Aquavit is worth a visit for it's very special foodexperience. If you look for filét mignon or stuffed turkey .. look elsewhere. But if you look for a true surprise and are open for a travel into tasteland unknown, you should indeed take your time and visit this place more than once to really get into the enviroment and the whole concept behind it. Fact is that the attitude in this place could frost a martini shaker and the food, while visually stunning, pairs more unlikely partners than a hostile takeover.
The “bread girl” shows up only once at the table looking like a poor man’s Bjork in a giant bread basket, reluctantly inviting each diner to try one variety of several rolls and breads. My guess is the roof pigeons see more of this basket than the diners, who, not surprisingly, were conspicuous in their absence this evening.
Since my cousin was way too generous by insisting he take care of the check, I have no idea on the price. On "prix fix" meals I generally double the price to cover wine, tax and tip.
I could go on but I think you get the idea. Yet, if you want to dine at a character spot, this may be the ticket: Especially if the character you are seeking is the Soup Nazi from "Seinfeld."
